Who is this book for: Anybody in any business that is looking to improve their quality life, meaningful relationships and earn more money to pay for their biggest dreams.
I’ll be posting a short blog over the next 12 days (kinda like the 12 days of Christmas) with what the twelve pillars mean to me and how you might personally benefit from them.
The First Pillar of Success: Work Harder on Yourself than You Do on Your Job or Business
I’ve heard it said by many successful people, including Lynn Hagedorn from my company who earned a million dollars in her first 14 months, that your business will never get bigger than you are. For years I worked harder on my business than I did on me and my income and business never grew bigger than my personal development had grown.
I did spend time attending personal development events and I always improved right after but I never really sustained the personal growth. The following statement in the book is so true, “you will get the job in a company – and the salary that goes with it – that you deserve because of the level of skill you have. So you can work as hard as you want, long hours and everything, but as long as you stay at the same skill level, you will never go beyond that level of pay and promotion.” I worked very hard in my CPA firm trading time for dollars. It was a good living but I never had any time freedom to enjoy the money. When I started to really improve me is when I began to really rocket my new business. I improved my mindsets and began to squeeze away the fears that I had which were holding me back. My vision of the future became acute and I was able to master goal setting. My beliefs vastly improved. I was able to get extremely healthy and fit and be able to participate in the most grueling endurance event in the world, the Ironman Triathlon. I was able to conquer the fear of change and began a new career that is perfectly aligned with my purpose, vision and unique traits and gifts. I now earn more in my new career than when I practiced as a CPA and I work about 50% less time.
