Is Newton’s Law helping you or stopping you from getting what you want?

The law of equal and opposite reaction is either helping you or stopping you from getting what you want. In this video, I link three principles together to help you start acting in accordance with these laws and you’ll start to get what you want.

Laws:

  • Newton’s law of equal and opposite reaction
  • The principle of living in the moment, and
  • The Law of Compensation

Key # 1; Mind; Thoughts Become Things

(The Creation of Your Being) Dave MacArthur

The mind is a very powerful tool! Used correctly can lead anyone to have the life of their own design. The concept of mind is not a secret but it has mostly been hidden from us.  I believe to learn it well, we must seek it out and study it. Like a miner seeking gold, there is work involved to extract it. So to in the mind.  If the secret of the mind were readily available to us, just as we know we need to drink water and breath air, it would be taken for granted. Therefore, as it is partially hidden, causing us to seek the wisdom and power it offers, those that learn it and practice it well can virtually unlock any worthy desire they seek in their life.

The mind consists of two parts; the conscious and subconscious. The subconscious mind is 30,000 times more powerful than the conscious mind. The subconscious mind creates your reality without you having to really even worry about it.

I liken the mind to a computer and the programmer who creates software. The programmer would be what your conscious mind/self creates. The programmer develops code that when given to the computer causes the computer to execute. The computer doesn’t care what the code was developed for, it just unconditionally executes the instructions given it from the program. Therefore if the software has a bug, i.e., garbage in, the output of the execution of the computer will be “garbage out.”

In our own mind when we create programs, i.e., the thoughts that we constantly create, those thoughts create “feelings” which are like the software, they give the subconscious mind the instruction to create and deliver the results of the program. Thoughts literally create their tangible equivalent. Mike Dooley, a noted author in this area says, “Thoughts become things.”

Let me give you an example of how this might work.

bike-crash

This young boy with only thoughts of fun and excitement is cursing down the hill when he encounters the brick.

That brick can be an obstacle in your life as well. Perhaps a demotion, unemployment, or even worse yet; fear.

As soon as the boy sees the brick his conscious mind states, “I’m going to hit the brick and crash hard!”

A thought you might have when you have an obstacle such as a bad employment situation, “I hate my job and will never get ahead!”

The boy as a result of the thought creates the feelings associated with fear such as being scared and frightful.

The feelings you might have when you hate your job and think you’ll never get ahead are anger, despair or even disappointed sadness.

The boy’s subconscious mind takes the instructions based on his feelings and now must deliver the result, just like a poorly written computer program. The subconscious directs the boy’s eyes right at the brick. The boy didn’t even have to say, “Look at the brick.” The subconscious directed the eyes there.

With feelings of despair and disappointment over your employment the subconscious mind delivers the result “I’ll never get ahead.” It shuts the mind to seeing any opportunity. It makes you whine and complain to others and your boss thinks you’re not very capable. Your boss may even demote you and reduce your pay. In the worse case he would fire you thus creating the reality the subconscious mind was told to complete, “you will never get ahead.”

As the boy’s eyes are fixated on the brick, it would be virtually impossible to miss the brick.

This negative situation is only on one side of the process; the negative side. The opposite is also true. The conscious mind can, with practice and using your will power, create positive thoughts. The boy might have thought, “Cool! A brick! I can swerve around it and with centrifugal force have a adrenaline rush!” That thought would create the feeling of excitement and with that elated feeling the subconscious mind would act by directing  the boy’s eyes to the side of the brick. The body will lean into the turn as the boy swerved to miss the brick and be laughing with a smile the entire time!

Can you think of how the positive may work in a bad employment situation?

Might you believe and think, “I love the opportunity my job offers me to grow into a better situation which will help me create wealth with ease!” You’d have uplifting feelings and have a new purpose for being at your current job. The subconscious would now deliver on the instructions of feeling uplifted by creating wealth with ease!

This very simple analogy is repeated in every person in the world every second of every day. Creating positive thoughts takes concentrated effort. It takes daily practice and study. The results of your thoughts giving awesome positive feelings to the subconscious mind would be what ever your mind could conceive! Great income, health and joy!

When I learned this principle and began to practice it daily, my life took off! Today my beliefs and thoughts are even more powerful than when I began to practice this 7 years ago.

I create an abundant reality because my thoughts always create powerful and uplifting feelings of excitement, joy and happiness!!!

How that voice in your head is playing with you. Time to control it!

thinkingThere is nothing more important to true growth than realizing that you are not the voice of the mind— you are the one who hears it. If you don’t understand this, you will try to figure out which of the many things the voice says is really you. People go through so many changes in the name of “trying to find myself.” They want to discover which of these voices, which of these aspects of their personality, is who they really are. The answer is simple: none of them. (1)

Is that statement a revelation to you? I know on my quest to improve all aspects of my life it was such an awesome discovery to learn that the voice that constantly was in my brain was not me at all. You may be asking yourself, like I asked myself, “If the voice is not mine, who’s is it?”

Thoughts are there to help us reconcile what is going on outside us. The paradox is that we have very little control on our outside environment. We know the sun will rise and fall tomorrow regardless of how we think about it.  As Michael Singer states, “Eventually you will see that the real cause of problems is not life itself. It’s the commotion the mind makes about life that really causes problems.”

Now this raises a serious question: If so much of what the voice says is meaningless and unnecessary, then why does it even exist?

It’s there to help you feel more comfortable with the world around you. As Singer states, “Like backseat driving, it makes you feel as though things are more in your control.  You’re walking outside in the winter, you start to shiver, and the voice says, “It’s cold!” Now how did that help you? You already knew it was cold. You’re the one who’s experiencing the cold. Why is it telling you this? You re-create the world within your mind because you can control your mind whereas you can’t control the world.” (Although when it’s cold I wish I could control the outside temperature.)

You therefore end up creating a mental representation of the world as you see and feel it. That, most of the time, is not true at all, but a filtered version of reality based upon all your past experiences and views on life.

What if you decided to quit doing this and you allow yourself to experience an unfiltered version of life?  If you decide not to “narrate” and, instead, just “consciously” and with a “mental quietness” observe the world, you will feel more open and vulnerable.

Life is more full when we are open and vulnerable because our limitations are removed and we experience a bigger view, full of unlimited possibilities too.

Be abundant! Drop the voice! Live an unfiltered and limitless view of all your experiences! Connect on a deeper level with others and co-create all that you deserve!!!!

What is insecurity? How to overcome it and not be influenced by it in others.

FacebookpostInsecurity; is it real fear or manufactured in your mind and the mind of others?

Lets define the three principles of well-being; consciousness, belief (or mind) and thought.

Consciousness

Consciousness is our innate right to create any belief we want. It’s referred to by other names such as free will, free agency or free thought. This is the part of the mind that brings us awareness of ourselves. A mistake often made here is that we believe most every thought we have  when in fact much of them are not at all truth but made up to confirm our perception of reality, i.e., if we created a belief that was not true, we would believe that it was true. Let’s use an example of a person who believes smoking is good for them. We all know that smoking is not good for us and done over a long period of time causes many health issues including death. However, by the peril of our life, if we just accept that belief, or any other false belief, as truth we will suffer the consequences of our actions supported by the false belief.  If you believe smoking is good for you and you then smoke, you risk possible death. If you believe that driving fast is safe and you drive fast, you risk possible death. If you believe that eating sugar won’t hurt you and you eat sugar, you risk possible death.

Belief (or mind)

This is were thought is created. This is also referred to as the sub-consciousness mind. This part of the mind is like a computer that takes instruction from software and executes it. It doesn’t care if the software will lead to a bad or good result, it just takes the instruction and executes it. With that, to further define consciousness,  would be like the software written by either a wise programer or a uninformed programmer. A wise programer would create software (beliefs) that would give the instructions to create good outcomes. An uniformed programmer, like a person who believes smoking is good for them, would create software that would not lead to a proper outcome.

Thought

These are the actual thoughts that are created from the beliefs in the mind. We are a product of our thoughts. It has been said that up to 90% of our thoughts are not true because they are a product of the false beliefs we created in the mind. You are what you think. Or perhaps another way to say this truth is to say you are what you believe.

Insecurity

Insecurities are only false beliefs. They were created in the conscious mind. Because they are beliefs the vast majority of the people that have them, believe they are true. Have you ever said, “I’m not really that good at something.” Or, “I’ll never get ahead financially.” They are only made up beliefs yet unfortunately the subconscious mind, the computer, doesn’t know that and executes the order from the conscious mind and they end up manifesting themselves exactly as you believed. Don’t believe you’re good at something and you’re not. Believe you are good at something and in time you will be.

Common responses as a result of insecurity

The most common result can be summed up in one word; judgmental. Being judgmental has two sides. The first side is from the person who delivered the judgement. Here is an example.  Lets say a person was about 30 lbs overweight. From above we know being overweight was created because of a false belief. Perhaps the belief that originated out of consciousness was, “It’s fine to eat 3 donuts a day with sugar in my coffee before work.” As a result of this belief, the person probably eats 3 or more donuts every day and gained 30 extra pounds. Then the judgement directed at another person to support that belief, “Look at that fat person who is  70 lbs overweight eat a half dozen donuts. That person is really fat and disgusting.” That is a pure judgement; that person is disgusting because they are 70 lbs over weight. The person now feels justified in their own poor belief about eating 3 donuts a day and only being 30 lbs overweight.

The second side of this is on the receiving end. If that person heard the comment might take offense to being called disgusting. Acting on their own belief that it’s okay to eat 6 donuts a day and being 70 lbs overweight might be mad to justify that belief.

How to benefit from this knowledge

The best way to use this knowledge is to understand that your conscious mind is free to choose any belief and from that belief, the tangible equivalent will be manifested. Instead of using your free will and choice to believe, “I’ll never get ahead financially” you choose to believe, “I create wealth with ease!” They are both just beliefs that the subconscious  mind will act on through subsequent thought and  will manifest the final result. Remember, the subconscious mind  is like a computer and will only act on the instruction given it. If you give it the belief, “I’ll never get ahead financially” that’s exactly what will happen.

The same example holds true with our donut eaters. They can choose to believe, “I eat nutritionally dense food and my body becomes healthy, lean and sexy.”

The other way to use this knowledge is use it to never again be offended by the words or actions of another human being. Here’s how. You have to fully understand that every human being uses consciousness, belief (mind) and thought  exactly the same way you do. Because everyone does it makes them human and prone for mistakes in judgment. If they act out on one of their insecurities and say a mean judgmental thing, you must understand they probably didn’t realized why they even said it. Of course being judgmental is never good  but we all judge all the time based on our own beliefs. You can then choose to create the following belief, “I’m always happy and at peace with myself and the words of another have no power over me because I understand may be just a reaction to one of their insecurities and they don’t even realize why they are saying it.”

It takes practice to perfect this important concept. It has been perfected with many people and you too can become a master at it and then have absolute control over your destiny.

Although I’ve been very brief, the concept is really simple to understand and to perfect it’s use will take willful practice. You’ll have to be aware of your “self talk”, i.e., your willful beliefs. When you learn what your beliefs are then you can begin to see if they need to be scraped (“I’ll never get ahead financially.”) and replaced with better ones (“I create wealth with ease.”)

Use your gift of a conscious mind and free will to create abundant and awesome belief and then watch your life change!

Some almost freaky occurances in leaning how the human mind works and how it can benefit you in your life

There are so many things about the Ironman Triathlon that have taught me many life lessons. However the one that is most meaningful for me at this time may also help you.

During my first 9 Ironman triathlons while out on the run course, well after most of the athletes had already finished and gone home, I would catch myself saying, “I’m just slow and probably will always be a back of the pack age-grouper.” Self fulfilled prophecy. That’s where I always found myself and saying the same thing race after race. I was giving myself permission to be slow.

Then something special happened.

I made a choice to believe that I could finish 1st or 2nd in my age group and qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii come October 2015. I did that in March 2013. I’m grateful for Dave MacArthur for reminding me that I first had to believe it in my mind before I could achieve it.

After Dave reminded me of that truth I prepared this photo of me finishing 1st at Ironman Arizona this November with a personal best time of 10 hours 21 minutes.

FB-Pic-Templet

As a result of that choice I made to believe I was a champion some amazing things have happened to me that will blow you away!

Training Peaks Software Revelation

I use Training Peaks software to upload all my workouts and keep track of my training plan. I had used this software for about nine months prior to March 2013 when I made the choice to believe I was an age group champion. Inside that software are some amazing tools that I never took the time to learn. The exact day I prepared the above photo and posted it on my vision board I entered the Training Peaks software just like I had done over 200 times before. Only that day I noticed a link to a webinar posted on YouTube on January 12, 2012 called “Targeted TSS For Ironman Training.” I decided to look at it. I was blown away by what I learned about how the software rates each workout with a TSS (training stress score) score and it graphs it over time. The CTL (cumulative training load) score is a very good predictor of your finish time in the Ironman. As the webinar proceeded to the point below (see photo below) (at the 33:20 mark) it showed the predictor chart and I stopped the webinar and went into the software to see what my CTL was prior to racing Ironman Arizona in November 2012. It was 56. Notice in green below what a score of 50 and 60 predicts the Ironman time to be; 15:14 or 14:03, respectfully. Through extrapolation a 56 score predicts a finish time of 14:32, one second from what my actual time was in Ironman Arizona. That was freaky to me!!

Coincident?

After seeing that my interest was peaked. I went back into the webinar and scrolled down the list and noticed that a time of 10:21 minutes was listed, that’s the time on the vision board I had just prepared. Again, way freaky! I almost started to cry. I needed a CTL score of 12o in order to do that. Now I knew how much harder I needed to train in order to accomplish my goal. I would have to train about 214% harder from a 56 to a 120.

GoPro Hero 3 Camera

Just a few days after that I went shopping in REI and was only looking to buy some new training clothes. Right smack dab in the middle of the isle was a GoPro camera display with an awesome sale going on. I stopped to take a look and noticed as part of the sale the camera came with an underwater case. I purchased the camera and began to film my swimming underwater.

I was shocked to see how bad my swim stroke was. At 47 frames per second I could see that I was actually stopping during one phase of my swim stroke. Now I could begin to make changes.

I injured myself running about April last year. I could not run for about 6 weeks. After I could begin running again I took the GoPro out and filmed my run gait. I had a glaring problem that actually most people have. I was landing my lead foot in front of my center of gravity, essentially putting the brakes on and sending a jarring pounding up through my leg into my hip and lower back. I could see that I would have to solve that in order to run faster and injury free. As a result of that I found Chi Running. It is a better run method that is more efficient and less taxing to the body.

Ironman Lake Tahoe

I raced Ironman Lake Tahoe in September last year after I had made the choice to believe I could qualify to race Kona. This was an Ironman of many breakthroughs yet my slowest time ever. I finish only 26 minutes before midnight, the cut off time. It was during this Ironman that I felt I could win. Even though I was so far behind my thoughts were positive all day. I had my best swim ever by about 3 minutes. The bike leg was my slowest ever. I had a malfunctioning power meter and I had to go by heart rate and perceived effort. I knew it was slow because of all the climbing, something I’ve never really trained hard for. It was on the marathon that I had my break through moment that will carry me to Kona.

I was able to run the first 7 miles before my energy level dropped and I had to start walking. At about mile 19, in the pitch black of night, very cold and lonely, I realized that I had to start running again to insure I finished before the midnight cut off. In all my prior 9 Ironman races after I began to walk it was impossible to start running again. This night was different. I had to dig deep and find the heart of a fearless warrior and start running again. I had a major headache and my foot was really very painful but I focused only on the finish and began to run. I actually ran for 2.5 miles and then I could see that I could finish. That 2.5 miles taught me more about myself than I had ever learned about me before. The power of the mind is endless!

Today

I hired a great coach, Steven Bentley, from Canada. He is awesome. He believes in me and has been very helpful in pushing the best out of me. As of today my CTL is 67.8. That’s higher than it’s ever been in my career and I have 54 days left of training.

As I train for Ironman Texas I’m sore almost all the time. During my training routines I do not focus on the pain, something I always did before, but only the finish line in Kona! I accept the pain as part of the price I have to pay to be successful. I’m progressing really well. I predict my CTL score will be about 90-100 before the race on May 17, 2014. Then as I prepare for Ironman Boulder Colorado in August and then Ironman Arizona in November, I’ll move that score up to the 120 and God willing will have a finish time of 10:21 earning me a Kona slot.

What You Can Take Away from My Experience

  1. You first have to see the result in your mind and believe it before you can achieve any thing worthwhile in your life.
  2. Allow the possibilities to unfold before you and be open to exploring new things. You’ll attract what you need into your life to accomplish what your mind sees.
  3. You’ll have to work at it your goal. You’ll experience pain but you’ll not focus on it because your mind is at your finish line.
  4. You’ll learn more about yourself due to the pain than you could ever learn without. You’ll learn how much human spirit you have.
